Capturing your stories on film. Sharing your moments for future generations
-
I am nervous about being in front of the camera. It’s perfectly natural to feel a little nervous but don’t worry. We’ll spend some time talking and warming up before the filming begins so that you can feel fully relaxed. This will feel like an extended chat with a friend and in moments, you’ll forget the camera is even there!
-
How should I dress for the session? However you are most comfortable! We’re capturing the person you are for your loved ones, so wear whatever makes you ‘you!’
-
Hair & Make upYou will have plenty of time to get ready and prepare. However if you wish to use a stylist for the filming, we have some wonderful make up and hair stylists who can be booked for the session.
-
I am a shy person and feel uncomfortable in the spotlight. How will you help me?Truth be told, Sevi is an introvert as well-even though she’s presented live news bulletins! So we’re well placed to help you feel totally comfortable on the day and help you talk in front of the camera as if it wasn’t there.
-
Will I have to memorise lines? No! We want you to feel completely relaxed in front of the camera so we’ll ask you the right questions that you will have selected in your questionnaire and take it from there. It will feel like a conversation, so no need to memorise anything!
-
Will the film be private?Yes! We were given explicit permission to use the clips you see on our website. Your film will remain totally private. All footage is kept private and in complete confidence as per GDPR guidelines.
-
Who owns the rights to the film?Once the film is complete, it is owned by you. This means we will pass on the responsibility for its safekeeping to you and will also need to ask your permission at any time if we wish to share any part of your story to new clients so that they can get an idea of what the final film might look like. We will never share anything without your express permission.
-
What kinds of people do you work with?We work with everyone! Some clients are keen to make a film to leave a legacy of their life experiences, memories and values for future generations. Others work with us to create a film to document important points in their life experiences -marriage, childbirth, climbing Mount Everest! We take time to get to know you, so that we make the film you wish to keep and share.
-
When is the right moment to create a film about a special person in my life?Who knows that is around the corner? Nobody - so really anytime is a good time. We often get comments like ‘I wish I hadn’t waited so long to do this’, or ‘if only I’d thought of this before, I would have loved to capture my Grandmother’s life on film’. These life events are often good nudges to get you thinking about commissioning a film: Marking life milestones - Happy 50th/ 60th/ 100th birthday! Celebrating the lives of our parents and grandparents Celebrating our children’s life events and special milestones and in turn looking back on our own To share our family heritage, customs, and traditions - bank them on film so you can pass them on indefinitely!
-
Does a film have to contain everything about a life lived?Absolutely not! A ‘My Moments, My Life’ film should be just that - a chance for you to choose key moments that you wish to share with your loved ones. You can decide on a particular time you wish to cover or a particular theme. We’ve had clients wanting to talk about their experiences during WW2 and other clients who have used the theme of ‘family’ to talk about their grandparent’s life in the late 1800s through to their great grandchildren in the 2000s! We’ll make sure to ask the right questions so that the film is about what you want it to be about!
-
Why should I invest in a ‘My Moments:My Life’ film?Creating a bespoke film is an involved process and the results are truly special. It takes time to develop a relationship so that you’re comfortable sharing your story. It also take experience to craft that story into a beautiful shot and edited film which will be an enduring momento. We use the latest camera equipment and editing software to capture the moment with the best possible technology and we also bring years of understanding, empathy and experience in interviewing to ensure your story is captured sensitively.
